Branch Library Improvement Program (BLIP)

New Library

The largest building campaign in San Francisco Public Library history is in full swing. We are now seeing the results of the $105.9 million bond measure passed in November 2000. The Branch Library Improvement Program (BLIP), a partnership between the Library and the Department of Public Works (DPW), calls for 16 branches to be renovated, four leased facilities to be replaced with City-owned buildings, three branches to be replaced with new buildings, and the construction of the Mission Bay branch, the first new branch in 40 years.
