Get ready to enjoy live readings from a very special kind of writer – Project Read’s adult literacy learners. Project Read, the adult literacy program of San Francisco Public Library, hosts the reading in the Public Knowledge Library, an admission-free space located on the second floor of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Learners will read original work to an audience of their tutors, friends and family. Afterwards, readers and their guests will be welcomed on a gallery tour.

“Many of our learners are not regular museum-goers, so we hope this experience will be a treat and will help celebrate what they’ve accomplished in the program,” said Randy Weaver, Project Read Supervisor.

Project Read adult learners will be invited to two writing workshops before the SFMOMA event, for support and inspiration in creating their original pieces. To learn more about Project Read or to become a tutor, please call The Bridge at Main at (415) 557 4388.

Public Knowledge, the newest branch of the San Francisco Public Library, is a partnership with SFMOMA, created to explore how contemporary art and culture can illuminate important issues and create spaces for new conversations.

Note: This event will be taking place at a location outside the San Francisco network of public libraries. For questions concerning the event, please contact the hosting library: Public Knowledge Branch (SFMOMA).

This program is limited to active participants in the Project Read program. Please call (415) 557-4388 or check Project Read for more information.

This is a Reading, Writing & Poetry program from SFPL. We love reading/sharing/creating words.
