San Francisco Public Library Kicks Off 2006 Teen Summer Read

San Francisco Public Library’s 2006 Teen Summer Read program will be held June 16- July 28 at 21 different library locations. Teen readers are encouraged to join the program and win prizes for summer reading, including gift certificates to Borders Books and Music, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream coupons, an iPod shuffle, free books, amusement park passes, free arts classes, and more!

All registered teens will receive a Teen Read logo button. Teen Summer Read participants will be required to read 10, 20, or 30 hours, and record their thoughts about what they read on comment cards. For every 10 hours of reading, they will receive a prize, as well as a chance to win grand raffle prizes at the end of the program. Those who read 30 hours will receive an invitation to a finale party on Aug. 4 for teens only with entertainment and refreshments. Prize incentives for Teen Summer Read are as follows:

  • 10 hours – tri-lighter logo pen
  • 20 hours – Ben & Jerry’s ice cream coupon
  • 30 hours – Borders Books & Music gift certificate

Teen Summer Read participants may read books, magazines, graphic novels, or newspapers to qualify (e-mail is not eligible). All teens who read 30 hours or more will be eligible to enter a raffle for additional prizes, including an iPod shuffle. Teen Summer Read is funded by Friends of the San Francisco Public Library.
