March 6 - May 18, 2003
San Francisco Main Library's Jewett Gallery

This exhibition presents a selection of photographs, in color and black and white, of the spectacular caves in the Guadeloupe Mountains of New Mexico and West Texas. Taken by Stuart Kogod, Michael Queen, and Jack Soman, the photographs capture some of the most beautiful, oldest, largest and scientifically significant caves in the world, and include the world-renowned Carlsbad Caverns and Lechuguilla Cave. Some of the photographs were taken from the well-maintained trails that visitors use to tour the wonders of Carlsbad Caverns. Many, though, are from places that require long hikes, technical climbs, special skills, and permits to reach.
