Video Series Helps Develop Young Minds
On Oct. 25, the Resource Collection for Learning Differences of the San Francisco Public Library will kick off Developing Minds, a six-part video series offering parents, guardians, educators and childcare providers tools and techniques for
teaching elementary- and middle school-age kids important life skills and good study habits. The hour-long videos cover a variety of topics, such as honing organizational skills, improving reading skills, and learning to relate to others.
The first in the series, “Getting Organized and Having Good Work Habits,” focuses on teaching students how to develop good work habits. Techniques on how to organize and manage time and energy, and develop effective study skills
will be discussed. The video will also address common organizational problems that many students face.

- Dec. 6 Learning to Relate to Others
- Feb. 7, 2007 Mastering the Challenge of Reading
- March 21, 2007 Getting Thoughts on Paper
- April 25, 2007 Thinking with Numbers
All video programs begin at 4 p.m. in the Latino/Hispanic Community Meeting Room at the Main Library. After each video, Carol Kocivar, ombudsperson for the San Francisco Unified School District’s Special Education Services, will hold a question and answer session.
