San Francisco – Library users in the Excelsior District can now enjoy the services of the new Branch Bookmobile. The Bookmobile will provide library services while the Excelsior Branch is closed for renovations. The Branch closed its doors in late November for needed seismic, accessibility and other improvements in a celebratory closing party where community members and city officials paved the way for the future. The Excelsior Branch will re-open in late 2005 as a fully accessible and modernized facility.

In a generous partnership agreement, Safeway has provided a parking space for the Bookmobile at 4950 Mission Street (near Italy Avenue). The Bookmobile will be available for visits beginning January 27, 2004 and will have the following available:

• Materials for adults, teens and children
• Books in English, Chinese and Spanish
• CDs, DVDs and VHS videos
• Magazine collection for home use
• Library card registration
• Material reservations and interlibrary loan requests
