As a booklover and librarian, I meet books sometimes in wretched conditions. Instead of scrapping damaged books, I prefer to make them into scrapbooks. What bits of ephemera and such can be collected and preserved for pleasure and amusement. I hope this enhancement will glorify the damaged book, and wrest from vandalism a better world.
