I was able to go to the Library to select a book. What really happened is that The Men
with the Pink Triangle selected me. I was intrigued that when the book was slashed, the
pieces that came off the book were triangles. My initial plan was to make an elaborate
display using pink triangles in fabric that were pieced together, but as I listened to what
the book was telling me, the plan grew simpler. I sewed the pages back together with
pink silk thread so that the stitches would not look like sutures. We may never know the
motivation for slashing this book, but if it was to render it unreadable, my intention was
to put this book back together so that it could once again be a source of knowledge and
inspiration. I noticed that the first unvandalized page is 31, the page where the size (five
centimeters) and the color code for the triangles are explained. The following page, 32,
talks about the size of the pink triangles, “The pink triangle, however was about two to
three centimeters larger than the others, so that we could be clearly recognized from a
distance.” I printed the cover triangle piece in pink before re-attaching it and sewed an
eight centimeter pink triangle in silk on the back inside cover.
