To protect your privacy and ensure confidentiality of your borrower record, the San Francisco Public Library is now using a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) for all borrower transactions in the Online Catalog.
The first time you access your account, or place holds on materials, your web browser requires acceptance of a Security Certificate before you can proceed. The Library recommends checking the option to “Accept this certificate permanently.”
After permanently accepting the certificate, click OK. From that point forward, you will not see this message when you access your library record.
What is SSL?
Secured Sockets Layer (SSL) is a method of encrypting Web pages containing sensitive information. The San Francisco Public Library’s catalog supports SSL security using OpenSSL.
The Catalog’s SSL security includes software developed by the OpenSSL Project for use in the OpenSSL Toolkit. (http://www.openssl.org/).
