Western Addition Branch reopened on Saturday, February 2, 2008 [Grand Re-Opening flier (PDF)]
Western Addition Branch Closing Party!
Renovation highlights include new furniture and bookshelves, better lighting, a new program room, a designated Teen Area, more computers, wireless access to the internet, a variety of seating choices, and a new entry with automatic front doors. The branch closed for construction on August 19, 2006 and reopened on February 2, 2008. During the renovation, library services will be provided by increasing hours at nearby branches, holding children’s story hours at Parents Place (2150 Post at Scott), and by a bookmobile located at Post & Steiner. Part of the Japanese language collections was temporarily relocated to the International Languages Collection (ILC) at the nearby Presidio Branch. And in partnership with the San Francisco African American Historical and Cultural Society, the San Francisco Public Library opened the Western Addition Reading Center, located in the African American Art and Culture Complex. The Friends of the San Francisco Public Library are raising funds from private donations for new furniture, fixtures, and equipment for the branch library.
