"Two landmarks are gone from Union Square. Clinton Day's City of Paris and the Fitzhugh Buildings. They are missed. The older of the two, the City of Paris dated from 1896 at which time it was the Spring Valley Water Works Co., with space rented to the famous store. Rebuilt after the fire, the department store took over the entire structure. Its rotunda is preserved at the corner of the new Neiman Marcus store by Phillip Johnston."
