Notice of Meeting

A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:

Date: Wednesday, November 07, 2001 Time: 4:00 PM Place: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level

The meeting will be called to order.

  1. ACTIONAPPROVAL OF THE OCTOBER 2, 2001 MINUTES

    Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting of October 2, 2001.

  2. ACTIONAPPROVAL OF THE OCTOBER 10, 2001 MINUTES

    Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the special Commission meeting of October 10, 2001.

  3. DISCUSSIONCITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT
    by City Librarian Susan Hildreth

    (This a discussion item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements).

    This report will consist of an introduction of the new Deputy City Librarian, a report on branch projects, a security report, an Ocean View project update, and a report on LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) grants.


  4. DISCUSSIONLIBRARY BUDGET PLANNING REPORT

    Presentation of and discussion of plans for the Library’s budget.

    Explanatory documents: draft 2002/03 budget report and revised 2001-02 budget information.


  5. ACTIONBRANCH LIBRARY BOND COMMITTEE

    Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to abolish the Ad Hoc Commission

    Committee created to oversee all activities related to the Branch Library Bond Program.


  6. DISCUSSIONINTERNET LEGISLATION UPDATE/INTERNET ACCESS POLICY

    Discussion of issues raised by the Public Internet Access ordinance recently adopted by the Board of Supervisors regarding the use of internet filtering software, including issues relating to internet access terminals used by children. This presentation may also include a presentation and discussion of the effectiveness of internet filters.

  7. DISCUSSIONMAIN LIBRARY POST OCCUPANCY EVALUATION (POE) REPORT

    Presentation and discussion of an update report on POE related Main

    Library projects including a POE timeline and design protocols and proposed 1st Floor improvements.


  8. DISCUSSIONFRIENDS AND FOUNDATION REPORT

    (This item is to allow the Friends and Foundation of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.)


  9. DISCUSSIONUNION REPORT

    (This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s future consideration.)


  10. DISCUSSIONNEW BUSINESS

    (This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for future consideration.)


  11. DISCUSSIONPUBLIC COMMENT

    (This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s future consideration.)


  12. ACTIONADJOURNMENT
