Notice of Meeting

A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:

Date: Tuesday, October 02, 2001 Time: 4:00 PM Place: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level

The meeting will be called to order.

  1. ACTIONAPPROVAL OF THE SEPTEMBER 4, 2001 MINUTES

    Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting of September 4, 2001.

  2. ACTIONMISSION BAY BRANCH – OUTLINE OF TERMS

    Discussion and possible action to support in concept a preliminary agreement with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency and to authorize the City Librarian, in consultation with the City Attorney's Office and the Director of Property, to negotiate an agreement with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency consistent with the outlined terms for the development and acquisition of a Mission Bay Branch Library facility in a mixed-use condominium senior housing project to be developed on Parcel N3a-1, which fronts on 4th Street between Berry Street and Mission Creek Channel in Mission Bay.

  3. DISCUSSIONCITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT

    (This a discussion item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements)

    This report will consist of a report on branch projects and an update on Internet filtering legislation.


  4. DISCUSSIONMAIN LIBRARY POST OCCUPANCY EVALUATION (POE) REPORT

    Presentation and discussion of an update report on POE related Main Library projects including modifications to the Grove Street entry and repairs to tabletops.


  5. DISCUSSIONBRANCH LIBRARY BOND PROGRAM REPORT

    Presentation of, and discussion of an update on Prop. A (2000) Branch Library Construction and Improvements Bond related activities.


  6. DISCUSSIONCOUNCIL OF NEIGHBORHOOD LIBRARIES REPORT

    (This item is to allow representatives from the Council of Neighborhood Libraries to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.)


  7. ACTIONCOMMISSION MEETINGS SCHEDULE

    Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve a schedule of time and dates for regular Commission Meetings for 2002.

  8. DISCUSSIONFRIENDS AND FOUNDATION REPORT

    (This item is to allow the Friends and Foundation of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.)


  9. DISCUSSIONUNION REPORT

    (This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s future consideration.)


  10. DISCUSSIONNEW BUSINESS

    (This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for future consideration.)


  11. DISCUSSIONPUBLIC COMMENT

    (This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s future consideration.)

Commission Resolution 2073 – October 2, 2001

[Mission Bay Branch Library Outline of Terms]

AUTHORIZING THE SAN FRANCISCO CITY LIBRARIAN IN CONSULTATION WITH THE CITY ATTORNEY TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE SAN FRANCISCO REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY TO DEFINE THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS BY WHICH THE MISSION BAY BRANCH LIBRARY IS TO BE DEVELOPED.

WHEREAS, The San Francisco Public Library and the San Francisco Redevelopment

Agency have come to preliminary agreement concerning the terms and conditions by which the Mission Branch Library will be developed, and

WHEREAS, These terms and conditions are set forth in a Mission Bay North Branch

Library Term Sheet Outline which describes responsibilities, rights, and obligations

which both parties assume to undertake in conjunction with the development of the

Mission Bay Branch Library, now therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the City Librarian is authorized, in consultation with the City Attorney's Office and the Director of Property, to negotiate an agreement with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency consistent with the terms outlined subject to revisions in items two and six for the development and acquisition of a Mission Bay Branch Library facility in a mixed-use condominium senior housing project to be developed on Parcel N3a-1, which fronts on 4th Street between Berry Street and Mission Creek Channel in Mission Bay.
