NOTICE OF MEETING
A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:
DATE: Thursday, September 7, 2006
TIME: 4:00 p.m.
PLACE: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level
The meeting will be called to order.
1. PUBLIC COMMENT
(This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)
2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES ACTION
Presentation and discussion of, and possible action to approve the minutes of the regular Library Commission meeting of June 1, 2006.

3. DOROTHY STARR COLLECTION DISCUSSION
Presentation on and discussion of the Dorothy Starr Collection by Jason Gibbs, Librarian II in Art/Music/Recreation.
4. 2003-2006 STRATEGIC PLAN STATUS REPORT DISCUSSION
Presentation and discussion of a status report on the Library’s 2003-2006 Strategic Plan.
5. LIBRARY COMMISSION RECOGNITION POLICY ACTION
Presentation of and discussion of an possible action to approve a Library Commission policy authorizing the Library Commission President to award commendatory awards and certificates.

6. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT DISCUSSION
(This item is to allow the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.)
7. CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT by City Librarian Luis Herrera DISCUSSION
(This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements)
The City Librarian will report on the following topics: update on One City, One Book Events, the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the African American Affinity Center; and highlights on exhibitions and programs.
8. LABOR UNION REPORT
(This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)
9. NEW BUSINESS
(This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.)
