Notice of Meeting

A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:

Date: September 2, 2004
Time: 4:00 PM
Place: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level

The meeting will be called to order.

  • 1. PUBLIC COMMENT
    (This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)

  • ACTION 2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES
    Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting June 3, 2004.

    Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting June 17, 2004.

    Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting July 15, 2004.

  • ACTION5. CITY LIBRARIAN SEARCH PROGRESS REPORT
    Presentation on and discussion of a progress report on ongoing efforts to seek applicants to recommend as candidates for the Library Commission to consider as nominees to the Mayor for the position of City Librarian and possible action to approve a revised City Librarian Profile and Recruitment Brochure for use by the executive search firm.

  • DISCUSSION6. PROP. E HEARINGS
    Presentation and discussion of a protocol for the 28 scheduled branch library meetings in September and October in compliance with the requirements of Prop. E. (Library Preservation Fund 1994).

  • DISCUSSION7. CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT
    by Acting City Librarian Paul Underwood
    (This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements)
    The City Librarian will report on the following subjects: vacancies and retirements in administration; and exhibitions and programs.

  • DISCUSSION 8. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT
    (This item is to allow the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.)

  • 9. LABOR UNION REPORT
    (This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)

  • 10. NEW BUSINESS
    (This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.)

  • ACTION 11. ADJOURNMENT
    (requires motion and public comment)

Additional materials not listed as explanatory documents on this agenda, if any, that are distributed to the Library Commissioners prior to or during the meeting in connection with any agenda item will be available to the public for inspection and copying in accordance with Government Code Section 54954.1 and Sunshine Ordinance §§ 67.9, 67.28(b)& 67.28(d).
