NOTICE OF MEETING
A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:
DATE: Thursday, August 17, 2006
TIME: 4:00 p.m.
PLACE: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level
The meeting will be called to order.
1. PUBLIC COMMENT
(This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)
2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES ACTION
Presentation and discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting of July 20, 2006.

3. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT DISCUSSION
(This item is to allow the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.).
4. RICHMOND & INGLESIDE LIBRARIES ACTION
Presentation on and discussion of the Richmond and Ingleside Branch Libraries, and possible action to increase the project budget for one or both branch renovation projects.
5. BOND PROGRAM MANAGER’S REPORT DISCUSSION
(This is a discussion item to allow the Branch Library Bond Program Manager to report on recent bond program related activities and make announcements.)
This report will consist of an informational presentation: none; regular reports: program budget, schedule, and construction reports; active projects; and community outreach; and special reports: none

6. CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT by City Librarian Luis Herrera DISCUSSION
(This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements)
The City Librarian will report on the following topics: introduction of new Chief of Branches; update on closing celebration of Western Addition Branch Library and plans for temporary library services; a donation of Chinese Language books from Cathay Bank; bibliographies for Every Child Ready to Read; and highlights of exhibitions and programs.
7. LIBRARY COMMISSION RECOGNITION POLICY ACTION
Presentation of and discussion of an possible action to approve a Library Commission policy authorizing the Library Commission President to award commendatory awards and certificates.

8. LABOR UNION REPORT
(This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)
9. NEW BUSINESS
(This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.)
