NOTICE OF MEETING
A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:
DATE: Thursday, February 1, 2007
TIME: 4:30 PM
PLACE: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level
The meeting will be called to order.
1. PUBLIC COMMENT
(This item is to allow member of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)
2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES ACTION
Presentation and discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular meeting of January 4, 2007.

3. CITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT DISCUSSION
by City Librarian Luis Herrera
(This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements)
The City Librarian will report on the following topics: attendance at the American Library Association Mid-winter Conference; the grand re-opening of the West Portal Branch Library; 1st floor renovation (POE) publicity and service enhancements; information regarding Marjorie Stern’s bequest to the Library; Board of Supervisor’s resolution regarding Branch Library hours on Sunday; information regarding two branch library projects highlighted in the SF Chronicle Watch; update on the implementation plans for a library privacy audit; and highlights on exhibitions and programs.
4. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY REPORT DISCUSSION
(This item is to allow the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.)
5. RICHMOND/SENATOR MILTON MARKS ACTION
BRANCH LIBRARY
Presentation and discussion of the renovation of the Richmond Branch/Senator Milton Marks Branch Library, and possible action to redesign or increase the project budget.
6. LIBRARY FY 2007-08 BUDGET WORKSHOP DISCUSSION
Presentation and initial discussion of budget issues and revenue projections for the Public Library’s FY 2007-08 budget.

7. LABOR UNION REPORT DISCUSSION
(This item is to allow representatives of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)
8. PUBLIC EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT – ACTION
SECRETARY, LIBRARY COMMISSION
Open Session:
Public Comment (on all matters pertaining to the closed session item)
Vote on whether to hold closed session pursuant to California Government Code Section 54957(b)(1) and San Francisco Administrative Code Section 67.10(b) – Personnel Matter-Public Employee appointment-Secretary, Library Commission.
Closed Session:
PUBLIC EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT-SECRETARY, LIBRARY COMMISSION
Discussion and possible action
Reconvene in open session:
a) Vote whether to disclose any or all discussions held in closed session (San Francisco Administrative Code Section 67.12(a)).
b) Disclosure of action taken in closed session.
