Notice of Meeting

A regular meeting of the San Francisco Public Library Commission will be held as follows:

Date: Tuesday, January 7, 2003 Time: 4:00 PM Place: Koret Auditorium, Main Library, lower level

The meeting will be called to order.

  1. ACTIONAPPROVAL OF THE MINUTES

    Presentation of, discussion of, and possible action to approve the Minutes of the regular Commission meeting of December 3, 2002.

  2. DISCUSSIONCITY LIBRARIAN’S REPORT
    by City Librarian Susan Hildreth

    (This item is to allow the City Librarian to report on recent Library activities and make announcements)

    The City Librarian will report on the following subjects: the New Year’s Eve ceremonial Japanese Bell ringing cosponsored by the Library and the Asian Art Museum, the December 19th Bond Act Board meeting, exhibits and programs highlights, the ULC Executive Leadership Institute, and information concerning a Library/SF Museum Exhibits Partnership grant.


  3. ACTIONLIBRARY 2003/04 BUDGET ACTION

    Presentation of and discussion of and possible action to approve a proposed 2003/04 Budget.

    Explanatory documents: draft 2003/04 budget documents.


  4. DISCUSSIONMAIN LIBRARY PLAQUES

    Presentation of and discussion of a proposal to create commemorative plaques to be located in the Larkin Street entrance of the Main Library to honor those who made significant contributions in the decades long effort to build the new Main Library.


  5. ACTIONELECTION OF COMMISSION OFFICERS FOR 2003

    (This item is to allow Commissioners to nominate themselves or fellow commissioners for the offices of President or Vice President for 2003 and elect those officers.)

    Discussion of and possible accepting of nominations and action to elect a President and Vice President of the Library Commission for 2003.


  6. DISCUSSIONFRIENDS AND FOUNDATION REPORT

    (This item is to allow the Friends and Foundation of the San Francisco Public Library to inform the Commission of their current and proposed activities.)


  7. LABOR UNION REPORT

    (This item is to allow members of library labor organizations to report on employee matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)


  8. NEW BUSINESS

    (This item is to allow Commissioners to introduce new agenda items for consideration.)


  9. PUBLIC COMMENT

    (This item is to allow members of the public to comment generally on matters within the Commission’s purview as well as to suggest new agenda items for the Library Commission’s consideration.)


  10. ACTIONADJOURNMENT

    (requires motion and public comment)
