Absent a quorum, there was no official meeting. The regular meeting place, Room 278 City Hall, was double-booked and the meeting moved to Room 421, City Hall. This may have accounted for the absence of a quorum.
Members present: Braun, Cauthen, Cuttler, Seeman, Situ, Soto, Weaver (Warfield arrived late.) Members heard a scheduled library presentation on its proposed Public Safety plan. Purpose of the project is to address issues arising from patrons at the main library whose behavior or demeanor is construed as offensive to other patrons and library staff.
Presenters were Kathy Lawhun, Chief of Main and Robert Lombardi, Director of Operations. Sgt. Pat Kwan of the San Francisco Police Department, also attended. He will direct the safety plan, which was developed in concert with the Health Department and Mayor Newsom’s Homeless Outreach Team (HOT).
Toby Meyers, a volunteer at the Coalition on Homelessness, discussed the plan and said he would provide some suggestions. .
LCAC members present discussed the library’s book ordering policies and procedures. Melissa Riley, SFPL staff, provided ideas for approaching the issue.
