Since then we have read 16 books:
Any Way The Wind Blows by E. Lynn Harris, Bridget
Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding, Holidays on Ice by David
Sedaris, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, A Lesson Before Dying
by Ernest Gaines, Motherless Brooklyn by Jonathan Lethem, The
Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway, Pay It Forward by Catherine Ryan Hyde,
The Pearl by John Steinbeck, A Raisin in the Sun
by Lorraine Hansberry, Shopgirl by Steve Martin, To
Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom, A Virtuous Woman by Kaye Gibbons, What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day by Pearl Cleage, and Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts.
In July we’ll discuss Jim the Boy by James Earley.
The August selection will be Jules Vernes’ classic adventure, Around the World in Eighty Days.
Both learners and tutors have enjoyed
the books and the discussions.
The meetings generally are scheduled on
the last Wednesday of the month. We encourage learners and tutors who
have previously not participated to join us! Call 415) 557-4388 for more information.
