It is with deep appreciation that I say goodbye to Project Read tutors, learners and staff. I had nine wonderful years as Project Read's director. This exceptional program provided me with many growth opportunities on a personal and career level. I feel good about moving on at this time. Project Read is strong and stable; it has a great staff that effectively and joyfully manage the program. In addition, it has the support of many individuals and foundations. I am grateful to the San Francisco Public Library, and The Friends and Foundation of SFPL for strongly supporting Project Read's efforts.I recently accepted a new position for the South San Francisco Public Library. As of December 1st, I became the manager of a new Community Learning Center. Since I am still working in the field of literacy and for a library, I hope to still have contact with many of you. Feel free to call me at (650) 875-6960 if I can be of service. - Ana Linder
The search for Project Read's next director is in progress. The closing date to apply was December 31, 1998. We hope to have the position filled as soon as possible. In the interim, Marti Goddard, SFPL's Access Services Manager, has included overseeing Project Read as part of her duties.
