Dreams
by Iris Barnett
I like to hurry up and get to bed so I can dream. But you don’t always dream what you want to dream about. What I want to dream about most of all is having a lot of money. And I like to dream about going places I have never been. I want to dream about pleasant things and hope they come true.
One time I was dreaming about winning a lot of money on a TV show. I was just about to win when my daughter Jomaica came into the room and woke me up. I thought she was still at my niece’s. But she came in after midnight saying “Mommy!” and woke me up. I was so mad!
If I am having a good dream and I have to wake up to go to the bathroom, then I keep my eyes closed to try to get back to the same dream.
You can wake yourself up by saying something out loud while asleep. That happened to me once in the waiting room at the doctor’s office.
Dreams are where you work through things. You go to sleep with something on your mind and try to find the answer in your dreams. Or maybe you did something that wasn’t right and you go to sleep and work it out.
I don’t like to meet new people in my dreams. I like to dream about just the people I know. I dream about my children. Sometimes I dream about people who have died and it seems like they are really there.
Does anybody know at what point in the night you start dreaming? Does dreaming start the moment you lie down? Or do you have to get in more hours of sleep first? Do people dream in color or black and white? Can you plan your dreams?
To everyone at Project Read - pleasant dreams and I hope some of them come true.
