Learner Accomplishments

BOB COLOMAIO passed the writing test of the G.E.D. He now has only one more test to complete in order to receive his G.E.D.!

BENNEI M. BLANCHARD, III has been dazzling his fellow and sister learners and Project Read staff members with his computer graphic skills. In addition to facilitating the Newsletter Workshop, Bennei has converted the Winter edition of Update into HTML format that will make our newsletter accessible on-line through Project Read's website!

ANTHONY SHEDD got a new job!

TORRANCE DOMINGUEZ was invited to participate in a Black College Tour, sponsored by the Omega Boys Club. The tour begins in Florida and visits many of the black colleges throughout the South, including Florida A&M, Tuskeegee, Morehouse, and Spelman. Torrance will tour from March 25th until April 3rd. He has also written an essay to qualify for scholarship monies to further his education! We look forward to hearing about his journey in the next newsletter.

  • We received this letter on January 29, 1999 from longtime Project Read supporter Maude Smith in response to our previous newsletter.
    Dear Project Read,

        Thank you.
I enjoyed the Writings by Learners very much. Lots of talent there.
I loved "Living on the Charles" by Bennei M. Blanchard, III. When all is said and done, I'm a "San Francisco Bostonian", too. Please tell Bennei his descriptions were great!

    Best wishes to all,
    Maude Smith
