Shedrick Recommends
by Shedrick Ferguson, Jr.

One day I came to my learning class and my tutor Michele told me that one of her coworkers told her about a book named Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell. She brought me a copy of the book. I read the book and I liked it. Here is a summary of a good book:
The story took place off the coast of Southern California on an island. The girl, Karana, got left on the island. She has many adventures and they are exciting. I thought she was going to be defenseless until she built some weapons. She used them to defend herself from wild dogs and a giant octopus. She also made her own clothes and pottery. She was very clever in trapping and training her pets.
It’s based on a true story. I recommend the book to my fellow learners.
