Project Read
Talking Books

Project Read learners may be eligible for a program of the Library for the Blind and Print Disabled at the San Francisco Public Library.
The Talking Books Program circulates free books on audio tapes and disks supplied by the National Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. The service is available to eligible San Francisco residents on a walk-in basis, by postage free mail, and by telephone.
Eligibility is defined as blindness, visual impairment, physical disability (such as not being able to hold a book or turn a page), or reading disability of physical origin (such as dyslexia).
Those interested in using this service must fill out an application form. Those claiming reading disability of a physical origin must have the application signed by a medical doctor.
For more information, contact the Project Read office.
