Sitting on the Sofa
by Ernestine Jeffries

the pool hall

In my apartment everybody sits on the sofa. My grandchildren, Que-Mauri (he is 5), Desiree and Destiny (4 year old twins) visit with me. The children won’t sit still.
Que-Mauri is really interested in cooking. Desiree and Destiny like books.
I like to take part in their education. Learning is fun. Learning is a way of life. The children like to play.
I want to teach them to love GOD, themselves, their family and  friends.
We get books from Project  Read. These are some of the books my grandchildren like to read: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, by Laura Joffe Numeroff, published by Harper Collins; Walking With Mama, by Barbara White Stynes, Dawn Publications;  The Teddy Bear’s Dancing Lesson, Tormont Publications, Inc.; Eye Opener Farm Animals, Little Simon and Schuster, New York; and The Seeds that Grew to be a Hundred, Arch Books. My favorite book is GOD Can Do Anything, by Roy Lessin. This book was a gift to me from Sister Jackson.
We can make our dreams happen by taking control of our destiny and learning to read. I want my grandchildren to keep trying no matter how hard it seems.
