I would like to thank everyone for coming
out for International Literacy Day. I have been involved in
Project Read for several years. Project Read’s staff has been
there for me when I needed a friend to talk to and they also got
me a wonderful tutor named Sara. I have been studying with Sara
for a year. It’s great when you have a tutor that helps you see
thing differently, like writing a personal or business letter. It
is a good feeling knowing that I can go to Project Read’s staff
when my tutor is not around to help me. The staff is there for you
as soon as you hit the door.
At Project Read they have given me back a lot
of self-esteem that I needed. I recently lost my job being a waiter
for 21 years. Working with my tutor and Project Read staff they
geared me up to rewrite my resume. The first place I went to look
for a job hired me on the spot–at Pacific Bell Park in the luxury
suites. This is the kind of job I’ve been praying to get. It’s a
fun and exciting place to work. I have met Willie Mays, Vida Blue
and other famous people in the luxury suites. Sometimes I set up
a pre-ordered buffet and sometimes they order the day of the game.
The luxury suite is like a nice hotel suite, but they have a balcony
so you can step out to watch the game.
Thanks to Project Read and my tutor Sara, I got
a wonderful job at Pacific Bell Park. And for anyone with a literacy
problem, make the first step to Project Read. You’ll be glad you
did.
