When I came to the city in sixty-eight, I heard about a tattoo artist
named Lyle Tuttle and went to his shop at Seventh Street and Market Street
to see his artwork. I decided to get a tattoo. I was eighteen years old.
Months later I went back and I got another tattoo. Many years past before
getting any tattoos. But in seventy-eight I decided to get a few
more tattoos. Fifteen years passed and I went to the Mission to look
for a tattoo shop. I found a shop at Sixteenth at Valencia that was
called Van Gogh’s Tattoo Shop. I met a tattoo artist named Marie
and we started to talk about tattooing. I asked her how long she
had been tattooing and she said that she was there to apprentice.
Since then she has been the tattoo artist that has been tattooing me.
I am writing this story so if there is anyone out
there what likes tattoo art, you can contact me at tattoorat@hotmail.com.

Burn Barrel by Charles LaRocca
Harry is a janitor of a large company. While at work one night he discovers
a dead body in the bathroom. While bending down looking at the body someone
hits him in head and knocks him out. When he wakes the body is gone. Harry,
a Vietnam veteran believes he may be hallucinating about the body. He often
has dreams of the war. Harry explains the event to his best friend, Jay.
Jay suggests he visit his brother Roger, the doctor. Harry doesn’t like
trains but rides the subway to see Roger. Roger gives Harry some medication.
Harry meets a pretty lady who is blind
and her name is Anne. They become good friends. Harry tells Anne about
his ordeal of finding the dead body. Anne tells Harry about being blind.
Harry goes to the men’s room. After washing his face and hands he notices
a message on the mirror behind him. The message is written backwards so
he reads it while looking at the mirror in front of him. The message says,
“Harry We Will Meet Soon, Jenrack.”
Harry has a very hard time sleeping.
He lies there thinking about his time in Vietnam during the 4th of July.
Suddenly, Harry hears the click of a gun. His eyes pop open and Jenrack
is pointing a gun in his face. Jenrack informs Harry that he is aware of
the dead body in the bathroom. Jenrack wants Harry to steal some top-secret
papers from the office. These papers are usually burned at the end of every
day in a barrel. Harry does not want to be a traitor to his country by
giving Jenrack the papers. Jenrack tells Harry that this is his way to
get at the country that ruined his life in Vietnam.
Jenrack kidnaps Anne. Jenrack gives
Harry instructions and clues to a wild hunt in order to deliver the papers
and find Anne.
Read the book and find the twisted ending.
