New News Letter:
Life at Walden House
by Alice V. Triplett

My name is Alice V. Triplett. Life in Walden House has been very good for me. The last time I wrote a news letter, it was my first writing. Now I am doing so much better. In the little time I have been in Walden House, I have learned so many things, about other people and myself.
I do not live in the same house any longer. I have new friends and roommates, but I am still reaming how to live the right way. I almost have one-year clean, and my mother and father love the way I am now.
I have so much fun with my mom and dad right now. I also have met a good person who loves me very much, and I love him very much. I did not know life could be this good until I came to Walden House.
I had not talked to my sister in five years, but now that I am clean and sober, we have become close again. LIFE is GOOD! This is only the BEGINNING! And I LOVE MYSELF TODAY!

Project Read Means
a Great Deal to Me
by Mario St. Rose

It’s a beautiful thing to be in the right place at the right time. That is what Project Read is about, being there for the people, giving them many chances that they need at any time in their life. It’s free. It’s on you to do the rest.
When I came to Project Read I barely could read or write. But yet they found me the right tutor to work with. Now not only that I can read or write, I am finding better jobs as I go along.
Me and my tutor have a great relationship. She listens and tries the best way possible to help me reach my goal. Susan Zoya helps me in every way that she can. She works with my schedule.
Without Project Read and Susan I don’t think I would accomplish so much in such little time. Now I want more. I think it’s fun when you set a goal and reach it. It makes you feel good and motivates you to try setting another one that is harder.
Thank you Project Read and my tutor Susan Zoya.

A Note from Susan Zoya:
Since we began working together a year and a half ago, Mario moved from his warehouse job at Clif Bar to driving a grocery delivery van for Webvan. He got his class B license and was promoted to distribution from delivery. Mario has a lot of ideas for a business of his own and has been doing a lot of writing to set his ideas down. We have also been working on a story he is writing for kids about how important family is.
