Rosanna and Marilena invited me to go on a trip to deliver medicine. That’s how my journey began. It was my first time in Spain, and my first time in Egypt. We had a marvelous time. I advice anyone who wants to go, please go. It is a journey of a lifetime.
It would take a month to describe my experiences, and this is just a brief reminder of some of what we saw.
Spain had a lot of historical museums.
The Alhambra is in the shape of a shoe, but is the most beautiful museum. The gardens are like heaven; the arrangement of the garden has a lot of arches with trees and flowers.
The Alhambra has beautiful architecture. It includes a museum of fine arts, and the Nasrid palaces.
We walked through the whole palace and outside. It is on top of a hill and you walk around through different chambers. After we ate dinner, we walked around the outside. At nighttime the ceiling in one of the rooms shines as if it were stars. One of the openings was onto a courtyard with a pool and a fountain in the middle. One part, called the Courtyard of the Myrtles, looks like the Taj Mahal.
In the Koran are the words “He who created seven heavens, one above the other; you will find no discord in the creation of the Merciful One.” This is shown in seven patterns on the ceiling in one of the rooms. The rules for the patterns follow a mathematical code.
There is a courtyard with a fountain, which has twleve stone lions which were sculpted in the 10th or 11th centuries.
The bathhouse has a ceiling with star-shaped holes which let in the light.
Besides Granada, we also went to Seville, Barcelona, Madrid, Cordoba, and the beach.
After the first week, we flew to Egypt.
We went down the Nile on a train starting in Cairo and all the way to Luxor. We were on a bus and on a train for more than 16 hours. There are a lot of things to see in Luxor—tombs, temples, museums, and statutes outdoors. In Karnak we saw the tomb of Tutankhamen.
From Luxor we took a bus to the Red Sea where we stayed in a nice hotel. Someone had created a sculpture in the sand of Ghandi.
We were in Egypt for ten days. We delivered the medical supplies in Cairo.
Then we went back to Spain for another week. We went to the biggest flea market in the world.
