My Book Review: Day of Tears by Shedrick Ferguson

It’s a review of the book, Day of Tears by Julius Lester. At first I didn’t think it was going to be a good book but then I started reading it and the way they had the characters and the lettering I didn’t quite understand the flow. But as I started reading and realized that the capital letters were what people were saying and the italicised letters were projections of what people were thinking. After I realized that, I liked the book much more and I could follow and understand what they were saying.

I read part of this book to my granddaughter and we talked about it together. I would recommend this book.

I felt the feeling of some of the slaves that were in bondage. I have been told about slavery but reading this book for the first time I felt some tension in my body while I was reading certain parts. It helped me to understand more about slavery and my ancestors.
