More than 150 adult learners, volunteer tutors, literacy staff, and literacy supporters attended the release party for Songs Inspired By Literature (SIBL) Chapter Two at Café du Nord in San Francisco on Wednesday, March 12, 2003. Featured speakers included SIBL Founder and Executive Director Deborah Pardes, California State Librarian Dr. Kevin Starr, and Project Read Outreach Coordinator Leon Veal. Songwriters Larry Kenneth Potts, Ira Marlow, Dee Adams, Michelle [Bloom], Stephanie Riggio, and Ana Porter — all featured on the CD — performed their songs. Other artists featured on Chapter Two include: Steve Earle, David Bowie, Tom Waits, Rosanne Cash, and Vicki Randle. Proceeds from the Songs Inspired by Literature CDs support adult literacy programs in the Bay Area. They are available for purchase on line at www.cdbaby.com.
