My Trip to Washington, D.C.
by John Caroompas

postcard from Washington, D.C.

I had a whole week of vacation, so I went to see my friend James during the last week of January. The first night I got to D.C. I saw the White House. After that, James and I went to get a bite to eat. I had a Philly cheese steak and so did he.
The next day I went to Lincoln Memorial Park. As I was walking through the park, I noticed how beautiful it was, clean with wintry trees everywhere.
For most of my trip, I did a lot of walking. I went to a couple of shopping centers and walked buying souvenirs.
While visiting, I noticed the buildings were made out of bricks. They have lots of old brick buildings and homes, adding lots of character to this historic place.
One day I was feeling more adventurous. I even took the Metro downtown, though I was a bit nervous. I had to get to Q Street. I asked a lot of people where it was. Luckily, the people in D.C. were very helpful to me.
While I was there, I had something each day. I really enjoyed visiting D.C. and, of course, my friend James.
