I really miss the old Main Library and all the classes we had. When the old Main Library was open and Pamela Horst was our writing teacher on Saturday, our class went outside to see the beautiful park across the street from the library. She told us to look at the park and all around it and write something about this beautiful park and this is what I wrote about.
In front of our beautiful City Hall is a beautiful park. There is a large reflecting pool in the middle of this beautiful park with a spillway somewhat in the front of one side of this pool There are many sea gulls in this pool and they seem to be enjoying themselves. There are many trees, flowers and grass at different spots. The benches are also in many different spots and many are under trees. There also are many people all over this park. Some people are in the playground with their children. Some people are sitting on the benches and enjoying the beautiful day. Some people are homeless but are also sitting on the benches. There is a man walking his dog and the dog seems to be friendly. There also are many pigeons and other birds around this park. It is a beautiful park and a beautiful day.
Today the City Hall has a new look because of the 1989 earthquake. Facing the City Hall across the street to your right on McAllister on both sides of McAllister are new buildings. We now have a new Main Library across the street from the old Main Library, which is still across the street from the park.
The park also has changed. There is no large reflecting pool. There are still many trees, flowers and much more grass at different spots but the only benches are in the two playgrounds which are fenced in by iron rods. It still is a very beautiful park but a lot different. I do miss the old Main Library and the many different classes we had.
