The Newborn Kitten
by Dorothy Hartnett

I went to work this morning. The funniest thing happened. Brian one of the workers went to get a box of ski clothes to give to the girl that sorts. When she opened the box a cat jumped out, and she got scared. She continued working pulling out ski clothes. She screamed thinking it was a mouse. It wasn’t a mouse. It was a newborn kitten.
Karmina, my daughter, happened to come by my job that day. She was wondering what we were all looking at. My supervisor was holding the kitten. We asked her, “What are you going to do with it?” She said, “I think I’m going to take it to the S.P.C.A.” My daughter said, “I’m going that way, I’ll take it for you”. So she did. Karmina asked me if we could keep it. I said maybe.
