Photo Opportunity

What:
Join Supervisor Chris Daly, City Librarian Luis Herrera and others for the reopening of the Main Library’s renovated First Floor

When:
Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m.

Where:
Main Library, 100 Larkin St. (at Grove)

Who:

Remarks by:

  • Luis Herrera, City Librarian
  • Supervisor Chris Daly
  • Steven A. Coulter, former San Francisco Public Library Commissioner
  • Gary Hoy, City Architect, Bureau of Architecture, Department of Public Works
  • Kathy Lawhun, Chief of Main
  • Deborah Doyle, Friends of the San Francisco Public Library

Why:
Celebrate the opening of the Main Library’s newly renovated First Floor! New service and information desks, self-checkout machines, an automated return/sorting unit and computer stations for applying for Library cards or paying fees and fines online will improve patrons’ experiences at the Library. The renovation tripled the space for books and materials, allowing all fiction and large print books, and a selection of new and popular nonfiction to be shelved on the floor. A brand-new Audiovisual Center will house the majority of the adult and teen non-print materials.
