Library for the Blind and Print Disabled

NFB-NEWSLINE

NFB-NEWSLINE is a toll-free telephone service for San Franciscans registered with the Library for the Blind and Print Disabled that uses synthesized speech to deliver an audio version of newspaper text to those who are blind or visually impaired.

Today's, yesterday's and last Sunday's editions of 50 daily local and national newspapers -- including the San Francisco Chronicle, Oakland Tribune, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times -- are just a toll-free phone call away. Access is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week from a touch-tone telephone anywhere in the United States and Puerto Rico.

For a free demonstration of the NFB-NEWSLINE, call 1-888-882-1629. You will be asked for an ID code; enter 034058. You will then be asked for a security code; enter 6414. At this point, you will have access to a five-minute demonstration of the NEWSLINE and its newspapers.

To receive additional information and/or an application, please contact the SFPL Library for the Blind and Print Disabled at (415) 557-4253.
